Website terms of use

These terms govern your use of this website. They are short, because this is a working tool rather than a community site.

If you buy something from us, our terms of sale govern that purchase, not these terms. Where the two differ on anything to do with buying, using or relying on an assessment, the terms of sale prevail.

Our privacy notice explains what we do with your information, and our cookie notice explains what we set in your browser. Both form part of these terms.

By using this site you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

Please do not:

• use the site unlawfully, or to infringe anyone’s rights;
• attempt to access another customer’s account, assessment or documents;
• interfere with the site’s operation, or introduce anything harmful to it;
• copy, scrape or extract the framework content we present, or our documents, in bulk or by automated means;
• impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection with any person or organisation;
• upload anything you do not have the right to share with us.

We may suspend or close an account being used in these ways. Where we do, we will tell you why.

You need to be 18 or over to hold an account.

We sign you in by a link sent to your email address rather than by a password, so the security of your account depends on the security of your mailbox. Anyone who can read your email can reach your account. Please tell us promptly at info@bhlassessments.co.uk if you think someone else has gained access.

You keep all rights in the drawings, plans and documents you upload. We claim no ownership of them and no licence to use them for our own purposes.

We use your material only to provide the service you have asked for: to run your assessment, to produce your Self-Assessment Certificate and Project Pack, and — if you request a Panel assessment — to pass it to The Design Review Panel so the review can be carried out. Nothing more. We do not use it for marketing, training or publication; the only analysis we carry out is the aggregated and anonymised trend analysis described in our privacy notice.

By uploading, you confirm that you own the material or have permission to share it with us for this purpose.

The design, text, layout, icons and document formats on this site belong to us or to our licensors, and are protected by copyright.

You may print or download material from this site for your own reference or for internal circulation within your organisation, provided you reproduce it accurately, do not use it misleadingly, and acknowledge the source. You may not use it commercially, or present it as your own, without our written permission.

Building for a Healthy Life is not ours. The framework is published independently of us on GOV.UK, we claim no authorship of it, and we use none of its imagery, logos, cover art or quality marks. Our tool provides a way of assessing a scheme against it.

If you believe anything on this site infringes your rights, tell us at info@bhlassessments.co.uk and we will look into it.

The material on this site is provided for information. Using it does not create a professional relationship between us, and nothing on it is professional advice — not legal advice, not planning advice, and not design advice.

We take care that what we publish is accurate and current, but we do not warrant that it is free from error or that the site will always be available. Where we refer to planning policy or to the framework, you should satisfy yourself of the current position before relying on it.

Naming any organisation or product on this site does not imply that we endorse it.

Where we link to another website — for example to GOV.UK, to The Design Review Panel, or to the Information Commissioner’s Office — we do so because we think it is useful. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their handling of your information.

We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, and for fraud.

Subject to that, and to the terms of sale where you have bought something:

• we are not liable for business losses — lost profit, lost business, lost opportunity or damage to reputation — arising from your use of this site;
• we are not liable for loss caused by events outside our reasonable control;
• if you are a consumer, nothing here affects your statutory rights.

We may change these terms. When we do, we will change the version number and date at the top of this page, and the version that applies to you is the one published when you used the site. We keep previous versions available on request.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

If we do not enforce a right straight away, that does not mean we have given it up.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
